Lexington Gardens Learning Center
Watertown Housing Authority
70 Phillip Dorch Street
Watertown, Massachusetts
Completed 2022
Under the provisions of our On-Call Architectural & Engineering Services Contract with the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development TBA was originally selected to provide Designer Services to the Watertown Housing Authority for the expansion of the Learning Center. The Learning Center was intended to house the LEAP and Watertown School Department Reading Programs for Watertown Housing Authority residents.
TBA was retained to provide the structural shell, building envelope and the outside look of the building, layouts for the interior (including accessible bathrooms and interior finishes) plus a site solution for code compliant access to the Learning Center’s existing entrance. TBA’s goal was to create an inspiring open space suitable for multiple uses as well as an attractive and animated building exterior. We embraced architecture’s unique ability to match structure with inspiring design. An exposed roof and cupola system work to invite residents from the outside and create an open, airy, interior.
The first phase of the expansion was completed September 2019, and subsequent work to complete the interior of the space was completed in 2022.
