Completed 2020
TBA Architects, Inc. was engaged by CAN-DO/Metro West Development Collaborative Development corporation in 2018 to undertake the development of 8 Units of Affordable Housing at a property located at 236 Auburn St., Newton, Massachusetts. The project involved the planning, design, development, totaling 7575 square feet across three buildings.
The first space involved the adaptive reuse of an 1888 historic home to be converted to a modern 3BR Single Family Unit.
Two additional buildings were designed for new modular construction to house 7 additional units; A duplex, comprised of 1-2BR Unit and 1-3BR Unit, and a third new modular building constructed to house developmentally disabled adults in 5-1BR Units.
The TBA Architects, Inc. Project Team’s unique combined experience in the design and implementation of Affordable Housing Developments through adaptive reuse of Massachusetts’ historic homes combined with our extensive design work with permanent modular construction enabled us to undertake this project quickly and effectively to bring about the successful completion of the project.
This project is funded in part by the City of Newton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through its Facilities Consolidation Fund.
