TBA Architects was retained by the Nantucket Public Schools System to develop a Comprehensive Master Plan for the Nantucket School District. Work included both facilities and operations. We provided existing conditions survey with deferred maintenance summary; complete demographic study and program development; optimized grade configurations, conceptual layouts, budgets, and implementation strategies for phased renovation and expansion.

In conjunction with the Town's departments, we worked to review and compile information on the existing conditions, met with the Building Committee to review the amended Educational Specifications and developed conceptual alternatives with scopes of work and cost estimates for review and selection by the Committee and other Town agencies with vested interest.

In order to accommodate the schedule and cost constraints, TBA laid out a phasing of the work to ensure that it would be accomplished in the designated time frame, pursuing multiple contracting to control tasks and timing.

In addition to physical planning and participation in the community review process, TBA provided design and implementation services for multiple phases of the redevelopment. Renovation projects at schools district-wide included classroom renovations, roof replacement, and envelope modifications to increase energy efficiency.
